Refuge Wear

Lucy Orta

This artist started out as a designer, creating unusuall designs for high street fashion and cat walk standards. Then after an experience with the economic crisis of the Gulf War and the Iraq war, she became inspired to create a 'gift' to help those effected, the homeless, the refugees.

The wear she has created are not only a unique piece of art with functional aspects that are priceless to the wearers, that contain storage areas, but each are suitable live-in spaces that are connectable to eachother, and she has engaged them to sport their function and demonstate their 'use' as well as their bold design. She has made each one with specific materials to withstand all weather circumstances, so anyone in them are comfortable and warm.

I am very impressed by this creation, not only as she aided ones most at need but she has done this with style, durability and care.
