domestiCITY

Shanna and I are collaborating on a brief about cleaning, chores and domestic life and how they can represent the home or home comforts. We have started research by photographing cleaning rota's in public toilets, photographing cleaning and chore undertaking within the home and street cleaners, to illustrate the contrast between everyday 'chores' as a mundane aspect of daily life, and as a job. For this project we hope to, perhaps, turn what is a boring necessity, that tends to not be discussed as part of lively conversation, into a 'conversation' piece through a variety of medias, using creativity and humour.

We have put up posters around the college, in some of your pigeon holes, and in phone boxes around town, asking people what their daily chores are.
It would be extremely helpful to us if you could drop us an e-mail (or post a message on a Facebook group which i will invite you too), or leave a note in our pigeon holes, detailing the following:
- what 'chores' you do regularly
- your personal opinion on them
- do you give them much thought
- what is your definition of 'home' life ?
