I couldn't make the initial scheduled date at PSL, so i went along with my boyfriend and fine artist Samuel on Saturday the 28th of February. This was the closing party for the collaborative show '195 Miles' at PSL. It was basically a collaboration between four artists from White Chapel London and four artists from Leeds. The first thing that you notice is that the artists have renamed the show from '195 miles' (the distance between Leeds and White Chapel) to 'We all have our limits'.
The most dominating and interesting piece of work in the space was 'Provisional Mechanism' by Dave Ronalds and Matt&Ross. This was an interesting response to a collaboration. With a show names '195 mile' i think there was always going to be an issue with distance and traveling within the collaboration, and maybe this inspired change in show name. 'Provisional Mechanism' is an assembalage of verious electronic hardware and technology that prints e-mails between Ronalds and Matt&Ross on a daily basis. Fans are used to blow the paper across the gallery floor for visitors to pick up and read. it is interesting how the work became about the communication and the communication was about trying to get this contraption to work so their communication could be documented and presented.
I thoroughly enjoyed this exhibition and was glad I didnt miss out completely.
