Project Space Leeds

I felt like this exhibition would have been much more successful if we were able to see the artists at work as a continualy process rather than just viewing the finished pieces.
it was interesting to see & hear the artists take on collaboration and how they communicated with one another over long distances. I was able to relate to this in some way due to the collaboration i am currently doing where contact with the team is easy but one to one talks in person are slightly more difficult, especially with the VM & display team who travel up and down the country all the time, it is the travelling which has effected me most.
as for the exhibition, i thought the fax machine and lighting with smoke was really good, the space used was perfect and how the intruments stretched the piece down the tunnelled space was really effective.
It was apparent that the video and sculptures collaboration didn't work out as successful, communication between the artists was lacking and they both tried to put together individual final ideas, rather than beginning a fresh with a one collaborative idea, it did seem disjointed.
Video is not really where my interests lye so i found the interactive copyings much more appealing.
A discussion which took place was about the advertisement of PSL as i commute daily the train often stops outside the gallery space, i was unaware of what the space was until told by yvonne. i think there could be great potential to manipulate the interior and expterior of the building to grab attention. the interior doesn't feel like the working space it is meant to be and the exterior is lost by the flats which sit above.
