East Street Arts: Patrick Studios Visit

The other week I went to Patrick Studios, the headquarters for East Street Arts, for a look round and talk from someone whose name escapes me. The building was made up by a mix of different sizes and types of artists studio as well as a resource centre, computer room and developing room which was open to the members. Our talk took place in the exhibition room, and the working practice of a collaborative group was explained.

Setting up regular get-togethers for discussion and development of ideas. Obviously compromise is required to achieve a resolution, but the process was described as a good sounding ground and judger of things, due to the group sharing common ideas and goals. The benefits included a pooling of resources (and technology) between members, and quite a large amount of donations of equipment to the collective group.
