PSL '195 miles'

I actually really enjoyed this day, despite some of its more negative responses. In general I find it interesting to view the work of others whether I like it personally or not; in particular this exhibition was a good opportunity to view, first hand, collaborative work and the ways and perspectives in which this had been tackled.
In particular I liked the work of Janis Rafailidou. Janis’ video piece for this work (2275 miles) was visually interesting, and lent itself well to her piece ‘horse displacement’. We were lucky enough to be given the opportunity to listen to some of the artists talk about their work, and this highlighted some of the miscommunication evident in their work.
Again it takes me back to Janis and her work. Janis discussed how she had difficulty in working successfully with Noah whom she had been paired up to collaborate with. I liked her honesty when talking about the difficulties she faced when producing this ‘collaborative’ work. This was evident in the outcome, as Noah’s and Janis’ final pieces did not seem to lend themselves to one another, looking rather disjointed. I think this was a shame, because had they have tried to tackle and overcome I’m sure they could have produced quite a strong final piece.
The exhibition as a whole may have been interesting to give a view of the artists work in progression, as a demonstration to how the artists reached their final outcomes, viewing how each artist contributed individually, and how the final pieces arose in this way.
