Roy Wood & Chris Wren
Between us, we have been considering how our performance can effectively incorporate our clothing designs. So rather than having a typified "dance video", we are now looking to create a documentary that combines our fashion designs, us photographing them, and the actual use of the pieces we have made. This will include interviews, and all the techniques that make a documentary seem professional. We are aiming to make a 5 minute taster for the presentation on tuesday, giving a flavour of what we wish to create. Currently I am taking influences from a large amount of music, and being aware of how the experience of listening to it makes me feel. Such as Kings of Leon, The Raconteurs, The White Stripes etc. The experience is something we can consider when photographing our designs. I've also been watching new films that have a certain style to them, to help me consider presentation techniques. Such as La Haine, Dead Man's Shoes, 300 etc. All have a deliberate style to evoke an emotion of some sort. This is definately something we need to be aware of. Otherwise, paying attention to current events helps me a lot. The Miners strike having recently been covered by the news has made me think of certain things, although they are not necessarily useful for this project. All is going well, and hopefully it will continue to. I shall feel better when the critical studies presentation is finally out of the way.
